BUILD A GUEST SHARE KIT PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE
A guest is much more likely to share an episode when the work has already been done for them. The kit should feel helpful, not like another marketing task landing in their inbox.
Give them one clear place to start
A good kit begins with one short message: the episode is live, here is what it is about, and here is the link. Then offer a small number of ready-to-use options. Do not send a folder with 20 unexplained files and hope the guest picks the right one.
Apple’s podcast promotional tools make it easy to create links, social assets, and embeddable players. Use these as the listening destination, then make the share kit feel tailored to the actual conversation.
Include only the assets they need
- One short vertical clip: chosen for a moment where the guest sounds thoughtful, useful, or memorable.
- One square or portrait graphic: with their name, the show name, and the episode topic.
- One suggested caption: written in a natural voice that the guest can edit.
- One direct listening link: preferably to the episode, not a general homepage.
- One simple instruction: “If you share one thing, use this clip and tag us.”
Write captions that do not sound like a press release
The caption should lead with the guest’s idea, not a vague announcement. Mention why the conversation may be useful to their audience. Give them a version in first person and keep the language easy to personalise.
For example: “I joined [show] to talk about the mistake I see people make when they are trying to [outcome]. We got into [specific topic], and I hope it gives you a useful place to start.” Then add the link.
Respect is part of the strategy. Never use a guest’s name, image, or clip in a way that overstates what they said. Send assets early when possible and make any requests optional.
Track what the kit actually does
Use a unique shareable link for the guest when possible. Spotify recommends creating distinct links by channel so creators can understand which promotion is driving attention. You do not need a complicated dashboard to learn from that. A simple note about which asset was shared and what happened next is enough to improve the next kit.
